When Tina booked her flight to visit us, we were still living in Chicago. While there was still a chance we'd be living there, we knew the possibility was greater that we'd already be in Milwaukee. (At the time, I was just crossing my fingers we wouldn't be moving at exactly the time she was here. Thankfully that didn't happen.) But we knew we wanted to show her the city we've called home so many years.

We arrived Friday afternoon and had a little bit of time, so went to Navy Pier to see the sights and ride the ferris wheel -- something we've never done before either. It was a blast, and a perfect place to see the amazing Chicago skyline. Afterwards, we headed back to our hotel, which was right on the Magnificent Mile (the last time Brian and I stayed in a hotel downtown was the night we were married!), relaxed about 10 minutes, then met some friend's out at Cafe Iberico. It's grown even more (that restaurant is huge), but is still just as delicious.

The next day we just walked down to Millennium Park, and just took in the sites. We met another friend for lunch at Gaylords, while Tina walked around. I wish we would have had more time, but the boys were getting exhausted -- and our $55 car parking was expiring -- so we just drove around to show her around a little bit. We drove home via Oak Park, and surprised Chris & Penny with a visit. We ended up staying for dinner (and celebrating M's 6th birthday a bit), then swung by our friend Amy and Graham's for a birthday party. We couldn't stay long, but was so glad to say hi and wish her a happy 4-0.

As we pulled into our drive way around 10:30 pm, we all said how amazing the trip was. Chicago is now Tina's favorite city. The boys loved seeing the old neighborhood and some of their friends. Brian and I agreed that we don't miss how hectic Chicago is, but we are so lucky to have spent so many years there. We are also so fortunate it's only an hour and a half way. What an amazing city -- I already can't wait for our next visit.
