Over the summer, the boys were lucky enough to go out to my parent's house once a week and play golf. They had a blast, and really improved a great deal. Tonight was the summer tennis and golf awards dinner. We met up with my entire family -- we sure had some big winners. My sister and niece each won an award in tennis. My mom and H won golf awards (H came in 2nd place in the 6-hole short category). And my mom won Aces & Aces, which is a combination tennis and golf award. All night long I got to hear about what a great athlete she is. I know people! She's a hall of famer, after all. Anyhow, the kids had a great time playing this summer. The pros were really good with with them -- especially Joe, who made it fun every week. H was super proud of his accomplishment. It was a fun night, for sure.

For the third year now, we've golfed in The Player Invitational with Lora & Bill. None of us have golfed since last year's event, but thank goodness we've got Bill on our team. It's best ball, and we use most of his shots. Oh well. We are not very good -- and I declare myself the worst player in the group -- but we always have so much fun. And yesterday was no exception. Good times.

As a finale to the boys golf lessons, today was the champions golf tournament. The did really well! 5th and 6th place. And best of all, they had a blast. They have one more week, but it's Fun Day. They have already said how sad they will be when it's all over. Part of it is the golf. But mostly, they have been having so fun going to Nina and Papa's every week. After I picked them up, we took the golf carts out and hit a few balls. Granted, I'm not much of a golfer. But they are way better than me. It's been so fun for them.

Yesterday was the 11th Annual Player Invitational. Over the years, we've missed only one of them. It's a great day, benefiting an excellent cause -- the One Step at a Time Camp for children with cancer -- and is in memory of our friend Jeff, who battled leukemia as a child and was a camper at One Step. Over the past years, Brian's golfed, and I've met up with him for dinner. But last year, Lora somehow talked me into actually golfing. And, we had such a blast, I signed up to golf again. How do I put this ... I absolutely stink. Putting is pretty much the only thing I can do half way decent. I can't believe I found a group of people that actually puts up with my shenanigans. And guess what? Once again it was super fun. Best ball. That's my kind of golf game. As a group, we hit par, which I thought was awesome. Until we found out that the winning team had 11 under. Whatever. After golf, there's dinner, auctions, and just hanging out with some pretty awesome people. While we didn't bid on tickets to a soccer game in England again, I did get a new tennis racquet that I'm pretty excited about. What a perfectly great day.

The boys started golf lessons today. H played last year, but this is C's first time. He really wanted to play tennis, but the timing just didn't work out so he's stuck with golf. I'll have to try to get them on the courts this summer. Honestly, I think golf will be really fun for both of them. And C met a new friend who gave him a Spongebob golf ball and wanted to take him home. I met them at the club after lunch to pick them up, and they wanted to show me what they learned on the driving range. C has some sort crazy hammer swing that shouldn't work, but totally does. How him. But H really was quite impressive. His got great form, and can totally can hit a ball further than me. Ok, that's not saying much, but he really did well. (By the way, I better get on my game. My annual golf outing is right around the corner. I'm glad I go with fun people, because golf and me do not really get along.)
