Moments 07 26 :: Week 03

Last week I was working the CrossFit Good Land tent at our local farmer's market. You can only imagine how excited I was to see Jack's Playground, a foster based rescue, at the market too. They had some adorable, adoptable dogs with, but George is the one I keep thinking about. He's old (11-13 years old), deaf, and was brought up from Florida after his owner passed away and he was left alone in the house for two weeks. He is adorable.

On Sunday we traveled to Appleton to check out Mel + Leif's new digs. We absolutely love it!

Mel whipped up an incredible lunch. She sure does spoil us.

Afterwards, we walked out their back door which puts you right along a river walk. Seriously, it's pretty fantastic.

Honestly, this week kind of stunk. It was incredibly hot for multiple days. I wasn't able to walk a shelter dog. I wasn't able to walk our dogs. And we had to keep the house closed up to fend off the heat. We were able to keep it pretty cool overall. But the last day of the heatwave was kind of brutal. The good news was, I sat down for a few hours and finished this book which I was totally into. It's a crazy one, and I loved it.

Justin was in Minneapolis for work and spoiled Cole with a fancy French dinner. Cole had so much fun spending the evening with him, and said the food was incredible. Fun!

To help with the heat, we filled up our cold plunge and sat in it at night, and got the dogs a splash pad. Too bad they aren't really into it because it feels great. This is the furthest I could get them in it, and even that took multiple treats.

As if the heat were not enough, we woke up Thursday to unhealthy air from the Canadian wild fires. It cooled down for a day, but we couldn't even open our windows since the air was unsafe. It's improving a bit, but it's still unsafe. Poor Van and I haven't had one single walk this week. We are both going crazy.

Brian and I fortunately had planned weeks ago to go to the Milwaukee Art Museum on Thursday. We were very thankful for air conditioning and good air. We also were able to check out the Gertrude Abercrombie exhibit before it closes after the weekend. Here are some of my favorites.

We also checked out the Widline Cadet exhibit.

I always love finding paintings that inspire me that day. I have some favorites for sure, but it is always changing.

The German Romantic Prints and Drawings exhibit was kind of cool too. These etchings are crazy.

Exited for this season, but also sad it's his last college hurrah. Senior season! Time sure flies -- what a journey it's been.
