I cannot even tell you how excited I was about this part of the trip. I had been watching the live stream daily for a month. I even mentioned to Brian that I wished this part of the trip was at the beginning of our trip. It's pretty much all I was talking about. Of course, once there, I didn't feel that way. I actually thought we planned everything out perfect. The point is, I was very excited to visit Jigokudani Yaen-Koen Park and the snow monkeys. We couldn’t be this close to them and not see them with our own eyes. Our lodge graciously brought us to the park, where we were dropped off and had a long, icy, beautiful walk to the onsen. Fortunately, they also equipped us with spikes to put on our shoes. So smart. Once again, there were so many people. You can see what I’m talking an out, as well as the paparazzi lined up with their long lens claiming their spots where I imagine they hang out all day, in the last photo. But there were still normal snow monkey fans too, so we all got a turn to be up and close. Seriously, they would walk by inches from us. I was absolutely in heaven. Like the paparazzi, I too could have stayed all day and Brian basically had to drag me away. The snow monkeys were incredible. Cute, funny and gross all at once. I absolutely loved it.
