At this point, I honestly cannot remember when this camping thing started. But we've been going to the same place, same weekend, for eight years now, which was pretty awesome. (Here's a post from the first year). And before that, we went a couple times when the kids were really little. I remember bringing toy trucks for the boys to play with. Check this out! One thing is for sure, it's something the boys  -- and Brian and I -- completely look forward to each year. Such a fun way to say good-bye to summer. This year, another one of the originals left for college. That's three now, in case you are counting.

Since our kids were the only ones who hadn't started school yet, we were the first ones there. We passed through Madison and got ramen before finishing our journey to Governor Dodge State Park. First stop, ice cream cones as big as our heads. Duh. That's a single scoop for $2, by the way. Next, it was time to set up our home for the next few days. We are pretty efficient at this point, so we had some time to wait and relax until the others started rolling in. At night, we all brought our own food to eat -- we made these Steak & Potato Packets -- then sat by our campfire with everyone. The boys and I retired while the others continued, and we may have been subjected to Brian's karaoke tune (Big Rock Candy Mountain, by the way) once or twice too often (haha), but it was a great night.
