Urban Quilt

It seems that besides barns and wood ceilings, I've also become a bit obsessed with quilts lately. "Amy Ahlstrom is a contemporary urban quilter creating hypermodern fiber art. Drawing upon her background as a graphic designer and comix illustrator, Amy digitally photographs the visual details of cities—street art, signs, and architectural details—and collages these images via computer into quilt designs." Sign me up! (Quilts by Amy Ahlstrom via The Jealous Curator.)

oh man i can see why those are wonderful! i think i'm going to add them to my want list! right now i am collecting fabric to try and make my own. my goal is to do it all with fabric that people have either given to me or reusing something i already have. needless to say it will take a while to collect all this stuff but i'm excited about it!

I'd love to do one too. I honestly have no idea how to start -- or how to sew, really. I thought it would be cool to do with pieces of my kid's old clothes or something like that. Maybe some day.
