Moments 03 19 :: Week 04

lastweek032219a
Nicolet HS basketball has been on FIRE! Once swim was over, H became a big fan. On Friday, the team went to the State Semi-Finals. It was the biggest field trip ever, with 10 buses filled with students. Kind of last minute, I decided I wanted to go too! So H and I went together. He was somewhere in that student section, however. They ended up winning 70-46 - and winning the Finals the next day too! We watched it on TV. The boys had soccer referee renewal.

Friday night we picked C up at the airport from his field trip. It's safe to say he had an absolutely incredible time. It might have been one of the best weeks of his life. We all missed him, including these guys.

lastweek032219c
Happy 48th birthday to Brian!!!!! Breakfast in bed was a fruit salad, chicken maple sausage and a breakfast panna cotta.

lastweek032219d
Not much planned for the day, but the lake was so gorgeous, we had to take a little walk down to see it.

lastweek032219e
In the afternoon, C had two ODP soccer games at the Marquette Dome. Such a cool place to play.

lastweek032219f
Back to the birthday. Corned beef and cabbage dinner and homemade angel food cake for this guy.

lastweek032219g
The big news of the week is that this guy got a hair cut.

lastweek032219h
A BIG haircut.

lastweek032219i
Whoa, right? Our friend Shannon said years ago that she wanted to be the one to do it when the time came, and she did an amazing job. C absolutely loves it, and donated it to Wigs for Kids.

Moments 03 19 :: Week 03

lastweek031519a
ODP soccer day at the Milwaukee Wave game. First breakfast, then the game with our friends. These boys have traveled to Las Vegas with the Wisconsin Fire together, played on the same team, changed clubs at the same time and now are on ODP together. Fun for all of us. One of their coaches plays on the Wave, but unfortunately was injured at this game.

lastweek031519b
This guy has been in Washington DC all week with his 8th grade class! Haven't actually talked to him, but from the limited texts and Snapchat updates, he's having a total blast.

lastweek031519c
Woke up to a foggy day. By the time I left the gym, it had cleared up. As soon as I hit our neighborhood, the fog was back so I just had to make a little side trip to check out the lake. The waves were fantastic! The change of seasons is still in the air.

lastweek031519d
Storm had to go for his wellness exam. On the car ride there - at the vet (he weighed in a 86 pounds and sat on my lap the entire visit) - pouting on the car ride home. P.S. Besides his lumps and bumps and probably a little arthritis, he's doing great. Not bad for a 12.5 year old dog.

lastweek031519e
My dinner dates. It's always so nice getting some alone time with each of the boys, and C's DC trip gave us the perfect opportunity.

lastweek031519f
One of my favorite meals when we go out ever -- Ricotta Gnudi from Centro Cafe. It's been years, and I just couldn't bring myself to try anything else. I love it so much! We also had an amazing caprese salad made with buratta and blood orange and flourless chocolate cake. I'm happy to report there wasn't a single morsel left over. We wiped our plates clean!

Moments 03 19 :: Week 02

week030819
C's soccer team hosted their annual indoor tournament. Since H needs volunteer hours for National Honor Society, he stepped in and help me out for 4 hours on Saturday. He loved it. Not.

week030819-2
C had two games on Saturday, and two on Sunday since they made the playoffs. He also had an ODP scrimmage in the MU Dome in between all of that. He loved it.

week030819-4
Meanwhile.....

week030819-3
C's team ended up coming in first place in their bracket! Yay! What wasn't yay, was that he got nailed in the shin during the finals (see above). It hurt for sure, but more than anything, he was so upset he didn't get to finish playing the full game.

week030819-5
Just a big giant dog foot and Gretel snuggling with her leash.

This was the day we arrived in Florida. Felt amazing to get some sunshine. That's for sure.

week030119a-3
Meanwhile, back home, Brian and the boys had a great weekend. It even included some R&R (rock climbing and ramen). Ha!

week030119a-5
The best thing about winter mornings.

week030119a-4
Snoozing in a sunny spot.

The last day *sigh*. We took the boat to the beach again. How could you not? Found a lot of sea gems and even came upon the nude beach. Good for them, but I'm really not sure I understand the intrigue. At night, we ventured into Naples. As we were driving, we saw the most perfect sunset happening. My dad dropped my sister and I off at the beach. We missed the sun setting, but it still was stunning. We had some time to kill before our reservation, so wandered the streets where one of the stores had the craziest looking little cat. Three actually. I love critters with their tongues sticking out, so this one got me. Dinner was at La Pescheria. Really good, simple food. My mom and I split a salt crusted yellow snapper which was absolutely delicious. The next morning was bright and early so we could catch our flight. It really was a great trip. We'll be doing it again for sure.

Christie, my dad and I tried to rent jet-skies -- but did not have any success. The place he's rented them from in the past is in the luxury boat business now, and the offerings available on the beach just didn't seem awesome. Oh well. We ended up having a beer, swinging by the Farmer's Market and stopping by DeRomo's again instead. This time, we bought some cookies and pastries that were absolutely amazing. After lunch, we decided to go kayaking with my mom. We didn't see anything amazing (like a manatee or alligator) but I love doing that when we are down there. My mom also mentioned there was a bald eagle on the golf course, so after our kayak adventures, we went to check that out. We saw both the male and female, and the baby, who is getting pretty big, even popped out of the nest. Amazing. We rewarded our adventures with a poulie vousey wine in the hot tub, as one does when on vacation in Florida. Right? Dinner was the strangest thing ever. Cirella's is an Italian bistro AND sushi bar. But what is even stranger is how amazing it was. My sister and I had sushi, and my parents had Italian. I had the sashimi dinner - just check that plate out!

What a day! The main reason for our visit - my parents 50th anniversary and my dad's birthday! 50 years. Can you even believe it? It's pretty incredible and inspiring. Definitely worth celebrating. The day started with a short 1.5 run. Honestly, it was plenty, and what I ended up doing every morning we were there. It was so warm out, and my body was not liking it. But it felt great to move and just be outside. After lunch, my dad surprised us ladies with an afternoon at the spa! I could not believe it! He set up massages and facials and facials for the three of us. What a treat! Afterwards, we came home and broke open the champagne their friends from the UK left for them to enjoy on this day. Delicious! Then, we got ready and went to The Turtle Club for their celebration dinner. It seriously was absolutely perfect.
