Labor Day

It's funny how these things work. One minute you are basking in the summer sun, wishing it would never end. Then suddenly, the air turns cool and crisp, the leaves start falling, and you remember that you are about to spend the next couple months in your favorite weather ever. I absolutely love fall, and this Labor Day was perfect. In the morning, we went on a couple's bike ride with Terri/John, Ali/Scott. Later that afternoon, we headed over to friend's of Terri and John's for a BBQ. I can honestly say, that the house and the setting might have been one of my favorite places ever. It's the kind of house Brian and I envision when we are fantasizing about our dream house. It was rustic, yet industrial. Minimal, yet comfortable. It felt great. I didn't take a lot of photos for fear that I'd never be invited over again (besides living in a beautiful house, their friend is really nice, and obviously very cool since he was more than ok having people over he doesn't even know). This picture above, is his back yard. Wow, right? It boasts a huge pond -- the kids spent hours walking around it chasing frogs and playing in the woods. When they weren't doing that, they were swimming in the most beautiful pool I've ever seen. True, it was only 55 degrees out -- but the water was 90, and when you are a kid, that's all the really matters.

For dinner, we all brought a dish to share, something to grill and drinks. It turned out to be the perfect feast. Of course the cucumber drink we were greeted with was pretty nice too. Ginger-peppercorn infused simply syrup. I need to remember this. Really, it was such a great day.
