Day two, was Sunday -- Mother's Day -- and we sure did make the most of it. Turns out, the evening before had quite the storm. We all heard it, but didn't think much about it. Until we walked around and saw sand bags outside doors, and restaurants and stores closed. Supposedly it rained 6 inches that night. The restaurant we were going to go to brunch at was flooded, so we hopped on a street car and rode up to the Garden District. We ended up at Ruby Slipper, which was delicious. And it worked out perfect because we had a reservation for a Garden District tour that afternoon. The tour started in Lafayette Cemetery and had us strolling through the neighborhood. It was really informative and interesting. Afterwards, we came back to the apartment, spruced up, then went right back out for our dinner reservation at Shaya. When Brian and I were in New Orleans a few years ago, so many people recommended we go there. And we didn't. And I have been regretting it ever since. It did not disappoint, and a great way to celebrate Mother's Day. Emma said she wanted to take us all out dancing, which, didn't necessarily appeal to any of us. Ha! What we ended up doing, however, was absolutely fantastic. We went back to our neighborhood for a drag show. You can never go wrong with that, in my opinion. After, we went back out on Bourbon Street and walked into Fritzel's European Jazz Bar. Such a great atmosphere. We only stayed for a bit before stopping into the grocery store to get Penny a toothbrush. And of course, we got a kick out of walking around with our beers. Such a fun night. A perfect day.

Lucky, lucky me. Last week I got to travel to New Orleans to meet up with my besties to celebrate Emma's graduation from college. Mel arranged the entire thing as a surprise for Emma. They arrived the day earlier, then surprise! Amy, Penny and I (aka the Mom Squad) showed up. It was so amazing. I was the last to show up. Had an early am flight with a transfer in Atlanta. Dropped my bags off (this was the entrance to our Airbnb! You would never know it even existed from the street which was right off of Bourbom. Amazing), then met everyone at Cochon to kick the weekend off right with an incredible lunch. We walked back to the apartment, then per the recommendation of a friend of mine and part-time New Orleans resident, headed to Magazine for the Champagne Stroll. But first, Casamento's for oysters. I enjoy oysters, but tend to shy away from the giant ones. I don't know what it is about the oysters in NOLA though, because they are HUGE yet different from others and so, so good! We hit the tail end of the stroll, but completely enjoyed it. The last store of the night was Peaches, where we got to meet the store dog, Sir Winston Pepperbottoms. What a cutie. We were all pretty exhausted after our big day, so headed back and called it a night.

Moments 05 19 :: Week 02

lastweek051019a
Ali & Scott invited us to our favorite gala of the year - MIAD Creative Fusion. This is the only photo I got, unfortunately! Our table was filled with a really fun group of people, plus Brian and I ended up with a new art piece and I got a pair of earrings. Score! The only bummer was C came down with a fever that night. He ended up missing Sunday's soccer game and a day of school. He still sounds like a mess, but feels much better.

lastweek051019b
Gretel fell asleep staring out the window. She leads quite the tough life as you can tell.

Moments 05 19 :: Week 01

lastweek050319a
One day Gretel was lounging on the driveway.  The next, this. Snow again! This is our neighbors amazing snow-coverd blossoming tree. :(

lastweek050319b
I really wish he knew how to relax. (Full disclosure, we keep this sofa around for the dogs. The pillows and blankets get wash on a frequent basis, but if you are ever at our house, sit on it at your own risk).

lastweek050319c
The 1600m run. C's one and only track event this year. He didn't participate last year, and was hoping it would work out for him this season, but nope. Oh well.

Moments 04 19 :: Week 04

lastweek042619
Look at us! Out on a Friday night. Double date at Birch + Butcher with Scott & Ali, and ran into some other friends who happened to find themselves without their little kids that night.

lastweek042619-2
Evening #2 -- in a row! C'viche with Jesse & Angie, then to watch Goran play.

lastweek042619-4
Tennis season started. C and his friend played #1 doubles -- and got creamed. Needless to say, they are moved down to #2 next week. Ha!

lastweek042619-3
This one has decided she's petrified of thunderstorms. It's so weird! She ended up sleeping in our bed that night. She usually doesn't even come upstairs! She's something.

Such a full, fun Easter. It started with the boys waking up to an Easter egg hunt. Yeah, it's not the same, but it's still fun. Early in the afternoon, we swung by Scott & Ali's for a few minutes on our way to meet Grandma at Lake Park Bistro for brunch ... which was amazing. Seriously, it's so good, and such a great treat for a special day. We also scored with a table overlooking the lake on this gorgeous day. Yay! After stopping home for a few minutes, it was time to head out to Justin & Amy's. It really was a perfect day.

Moments 04 19 :: Week 03

lastweek041919a
In honor of Prom this weekend, thought I'd pull up my old Prom pictures. LOL!

lastweek041919b
This is better! Are they so cute? His date is a good friend of H's. (She's actually dating our next door neighbor who is in college).

lastweek041919c
Proud parents.

lastweek041919d
The Grand March. Kind of a funny (to me) tradition at their school. But I loved getting to see where prom was and hear their names announced. H had a great time. I really don't think it could have been better, to be honest.

lastweek041919e
The day after. Haha! It was a late, fun night. That's for sure.

lastweek041919f
Then this nonsense happened. C was in a soccer tournament in Rockford over the weekend. We were 15 minutes away from the fields when the rest of the tournament got cancelled. Grrrr.. Nothing like spending 3 hours in the car for no reason.

lastweek041919g
And then the snow melted. I love spring!

Moments 04 19 :: Week 02

lastweek041219
Bliss. A scene from last weekend when H got his hair cut.

lastweek041219-2
It's absolutely disgusting out right now, but there were a few gorgeous days this week, and this one took full advantage of it to sun herself.

Moments 04 19 :: Week 01

lastweek040519
Arrived home from Spring Break in the nick of time to wish this crazy girl a very happy 5th birthday!

lastweek040519-2
Felt great to get out and about on Sunday. So lucky to have the Schlitz Audubon nearly in our back yard.

lastweek040519-3
As a last Spring Break hurrah, we went out for pizza.

lastweek040519-5
In case you were wondering.... (an awesome gift from Brian).

lastweek040519-4
Super snuggles all the time. I've been a little worried about Storm lately. It's hard watching our pets grow old, and he's kind of my guy....

lastweek040519-6
S E V E N T E E N ! That just sounds old.

lastweek040519-7
For the most part, it was a regular day. Had to wait for C to get home from soccer practice then celebrated with his traditional steak, french fries and Greek salad. This year's cake was a S'more Icebox Cake. I have to admit, I wasn't sold on his pick this year, but it turned out ridiculously good.

lastweek040519-8
As I was taking C to the mall this afternoon, he said he liked my outfit. I'll take it!
