Hudson hasn't been able to focus on swim as much this year, but was so excited when he qualified for Club Swim Nationals again earlier this year. The event was held at IUPUI. Besides his individual event, he swam in 4 relays. He got a personal best in one of his freestyle splits, and had a full, fun weekend. D1 schools from everywhere are represented. It's fun to watch, and since it's live, he had a lot of people cheering him on from afar.
The SLU Club Swim qualifying swimmers. The two with the cowboy hats are the Seniors. Including Hudson (and one of his roommates). Swim has been so amazing for him. I love that he's had this during college because he's really defined his time there. He has proven himself as a leader and amazing teammate. It's been awesome -- and sad that it's coming to an end. What a great experience
I'm on a roll! Finished another book. Picked this one up when we visited my parents in Florida at the free library. I enjoyed the story and it was easy to read. 4.5/5.
The solar eclipse was this week. I didn't plan well, and was scrambling for glasses. Fortunately, my neighbors had an extra pair because it was a perfect day. Milwaukee hit about 80% totality. The next eclipse doesn't happen for 20 years, or something like that. It's pretty amazing to witness.
Cole got to see the eclipse from the North Central College lawn, and said everyone was out there. St. Louis had close to totality, but Hudson and a friend flew 30 minutes to be in the direct path. He said it was amazing. Hundreds of planes and private jets flew in. It was almost like the EAA.
This is through his glasses, but you can see it a little bit. He was facetiming as it got darker. We got strange shadows and it got a little darker, but what he experienced was quite something.
He and his friend also got to check out a F-18 fighter jet that day. The pilot is a SLU graduate, and stopped at the airport to refuel on his way from California to Virginia, I'd say it was a pretty good day.
