Art by C :: Pear

Sadly, we don't get much art sent home anymore. But this was my favorite from C's art folder he brought home at the end of the trimester.

Art by C :: Man on Rug

manonrugbyc-0315

C came running out of school the other day proudly waving four pieces of artwork at me. I guess they had been chosen to be on display somewhere. He (kind of) whispered to me that no one else had so many pieces selected for the show. Just the other day I was telling him how creative he is, and that he has a really unique way of seeing about the world. That he would make a great artist. It probably was while he was having yet another meltdown doing his homework. School still is so hard for this guy -- fortunately, he's extremely social so loves it. Anyhow, he reminded me of that conversation when he was talking about these pieces. He was just so happy. Good stuff.

Art by C :: Bird

I asked if he drew a duck. He said no. That it's just a bird.

Art by C :: Waddle Waddle

I asked C what this was. "Oh," he said. "It's a Waddle Waddle." (A Waddle Waddle is a make-believe duck character -- it's somewhere towards the right on the picture -- I'm not sure I see it). There is also a mouse (the eyeballs by the blue thing), bug eggs (the little white things) and on top, a raccoon eating garbage.

Art by C :: Self-Portrait

And yes, those are tiny little pigs (his favorite, of course) in the background.

Did I ever tell you the funny C story from school? I don't think so, and I can't believe it. When I was unpacking C's last day of school backpack -- you know, the one that comes with paperwork from the entire year including this artwork -- a bunch of little pencil top erasers came spilling out too. I also pulled out our pencil sharpener from home. The one that has been missing for months. When I asked him about the pencil sharpener, he just giggled and said that was how he had so many pencil top erasers. He had a pretty sweet gig going. If someone gave him a pencil top eraser (it could be used -- most were), he would sharpen their pencils for them in school. Oh man...

Art by C :: Wood Carvings

etchingbyc-0312

C said he was going to wake up in the middle of the night and deliver presents to us, just like Santa Claus. We did notice he had them tucked in his bed when we were putting him to sleep, but didn't think he'd actually do it. Sure enough, at 3 a.m. Brian woke up after hearing someone walking around and stepped right on our gifts. This morning we were able to open them. It's hard to see, but he made us little wood carvings -- on tae kwon do boards. They are him, and us, and a little conversation clouds with red hearts inside. Mine is the big one. Naturally.

Artist of the Week

artistoftheweek

Look who's the Artist of the Week! C! My friend Tami sent me this picture when she was at the school today. I'll get to see it in person tomorrow during my lunch duty shift. He's very excited.
