Moments 07 22 :: Week 05

lastweek072922
We started our weekend by riding our bikes to the cutest popcycle pop-up. Pete's Pops, our favorite, has a little stand in the old theater.

lastweek072922-2
Brian and I went to the Manchester City vs. Bayern Munich soccer game.

lastweek072922-5
There were two rain/lightening delays, but they finally were able to play two 40-minute halves.

lastweek072922-4
It was the first soccer game at Lambeau Field. There were over 78,000 in attendance.

lastweek072922-3
City ended up winning 1-0.

lastweek072922-7
This guy. What a love. He always needs to be where we are -- and in front of the oven is his favorite. Makes it hard to make pancakes, but you try telling him no. Those speckles get me all the time.

lastweek072922-8
I'm generally not a fan of tomatoes, but cannot get enough in the summer. Look at these beauties from the farmer's market.

lastweek072922-9
Yummy sake.

lastweek072922-10
Brian and I have been riding our bikes to the lake most nights. Every night it's different. So pretty. I'm always amazed this is basically right in our back yard.

lastweek072922-11
Cole went to St. Norbert soccer camp. This year he roomed with his friend and teammate.

lastweek072922-12
It's only taken 8.5 years, but Gretel finally found her space to sleep at night. Next to our bed. For years, she slept in her kennel, as she was not to be trusted wandering alone at night. She was such a trouble maker! Once we started leaving her out, we'd find her lounging all over the house. Some nights it was the basement. Others the living room. For years she wouldn't even come upstairs (even though Storm slept upstairs), but then she started sleeping with Hudson. Once he left for college this year and wasn't home as much, she didn't know what to do! She tried snuggling with us, but she kind of takes up a ton of space and isn't super cuddly. We tried putting the bed in other places, but I guess we finally found one she likes. I'd say she looks pretty happy!
lastweek072922-13
Hudson is home! For a couple weeks at least. He got home late last night, and this morning, left with Brian for the EAA AirVenture. Looks like they scored a pretty sweet spot for the weekend.

Moments 07 22 :: Week 04

lastweek072222
Last weekend, Brian was in New York for work, so Nina joined Cole & me on our visit to St. Louis. Hudson hadn't been feeling good but testing negative for COVID. On the way down, he let us know he tested positive after all. At least we were able get pizzas from our favorite place and sit outside.

lastweek072222-2
The next day, Cole was at a soccer ID camp, so we walked around campus with Hudson. It was fun getting to show Nina where he lives.

lastweek072222-5
Did our best to keep our distance. We also drove (in separate cars) to Ted Drewes

lastweek072222-4
Cole's soccer camp was 1-7pm. It was over 100 degrees that day. There's nothing like playing on Hermann Stadium.

lastweek072222-6
Outside Hudson's apartment this summer. Fortunately, his roommate moved out earlier that week, so he had the place to himself. It's been a really great place for him.

lastweek072222-3
Nice, Cole. What a dork.

Moments 07 22 :: Week 03

lastweek071522
Van Duke had his first Pete's Pop Pupcycle. He loved it. Peanut butter & pumpkin. How could he not? We are working on his socialization and taking him to the Farmer's Market every week. He's doing really well! Unfortunately, his sister is not a great influence on him, but as long as he's by himself, he does really well.

lastweek071522-2
Gus the Golden Retriever puppy made his first appearance at the gym. Couldn't get enough of this little fluffernutter.

Moments 07 22 :: Week 02

lastweek070822
Our friend brought his motorcycle with sidecar and co-pilot over the other day. So cute.

lastweek070822-2
John & Pat have been hosting a 4th of July party since they moved into their house and realized their neighbor happens to be the person who does the EAA and City of Milwaukee fireworks. This was the last hurrah! They are moving this week to Washington DC. Even Hudson made it back to help celebrate.

lastweek070822-3
An amazing river view.

lastweek070822-4
Just look at this! They are amazing. We've been so spoiled.

lastweek070822-5
Really perfect beach day with my parents.

lastweek070822-6
Fireworks in our driveway.

lastweek070822-7
On the 4th, we went to the Whitefish Bay parade and over to our friends house. It was so much fun. When we got home, we learned about the shooting in Highland Park. Cannot stop thinking about that, and those people were doing exactly what we were doing. I'm so sick of it. Something has to change.

lastweek070822-8
A golden sky after the rain.

lastweek070822-9
Hudson flew back to St. Louis bright and early on the 4th. He worked all day, but was able to catch the fireworks. Not a bad view.

lastweek070822-10
Brian and I ventured to Summerfest for the first time in years. It was a gorgeous night.

lastweek070822-11
And we got to see an amazing show by Portugal the Man. Cole and his friends were somewhere in that crowd. We were lucky to get VIP treatment thanks to our friend. :)

Moments 07 22 :: Week 01

lastweek070122
Regionals turned out to be such a great experience last weekend. They didn't win, but all the games were close. It really could have gone either way during all of them.

lastweek070122-7
Pretty cool playing against the very best teams from the Midwest.

lastweek070122-2
This kind of sums up the weekend. Always so close. The team they played the last day ended up winning the entire U18 bracket so are heading to nationals.

lastweek070122-6
Great group of guys. Cole finished off strong as a starting player in the #6 position (defending midfield). Out of this team, only 4 are going to be seniors. The rest are moving on to college, many playing D1 and D3. It's going to be really fun watching them next year. Meanwhile, Cole will be playing MLS Next. Kind of a big deal. But sadly, it means he won't be playing high school, which is pretty heartbreaking.

lastweek070122-5
Saturday's game was bright and early so we had the afternoon to explore Indianapolis.

lastweek070122-3
Decided to walk along the Canal Walk. So many babies! Along the way, there were little floating ramps they could use to get up on the sidewalk. Cute.

lastweek070122-4
More scenes from the walk.

lastweek070122-8
Tourist.

lastweek070122-9
Summer nights. Brian had to travel to Nashville this week. A 1-night trip turned into 2 due to cancelled flights. Then he and Van broke in the van and camped a night. Now we are looking forward to a fun 4th of July weekend. Yay summer.
