Moments 04 22 :: Week 04

One batch of hardboiled. The other blown out. Hoping one of these days I'll get around to doing an Easter tree. Only Hudson helped -- a teeny tiny bit -- this year.

Easter morning. Never too old for an Easter egg hunt. (Hudson got one more than Cole this year).

Van wondering where his basket is. Last year we were in Florida on Easter, so technically, this is his first Easter. No plastic eggs were harmed. A miracle.

Joan invited all over for Easter dinner. It was an absolute feast. Always lots of laughs.

Us. It was so great all being together.

Such a full, fun Easter. It started with the boys waking up to an Easter egg hunt. Yeah, it's not the same, but it's still fun. Early in the afternoon, we swung by Scott & Ali's for a few minutes on our way to meet Grandma at Lake Park Bistro for brunch ... which was amazing. Seriously, it's so good, and such a great treat for a special day. We also scored with a table overlooking the lake on this gorgeous day. Yay! After stopping home for a few minutes, it was time to head out to Justin & Amy's. It really was a perfect day.

Can't believe Easter is here. No big plans this weekend, but it's been great. The weather is gorgeous. Spring tends to not be my favorite, but everything is turning green, flowers/trees/plants are blooming -- and even though we get to see this every year living in the Midwest, it's still always kind of magical.

We decorated eggs on Saturday. The boys and I love it. Maybe next year we'll try natural dies (I say this to myself every year -- need to make it happen). Naturally, Easter morning was spent Easter egg hunting and chocolate eating. We've hosted Easter the last couple of years, but with much of our family out of town this year, decided to keep it simple and go out for brunch this year. It was strange not having everyone around, but kind of nice to have a low-key holiday. Joan came and we stopped over at Scott & Ali's before heading over to Lake Park Bistro for brunch. I was so excited! We scored with a table overlooking the lake. The boys both finished their steak & frites. I had the cheese plate, salade niçoise and pavlova with lemon sorbet and berries. Oh, and a mimosa and some of the boys fries. It was absolutely delicious. Such a perfect afternoon.

It was another wonderful Easter for the books. Easter is still C's favorite holiday. Plus, it tends to fall around H's birthday, so he often gets a little birthday celebration thrown in the mix. The day itself was pretty miserable outside -- rainy and gloomy. No matter. We weren't going to let a little bad weather ruin the day. The Easter bunny came in the morning. Then we spent the rest of the morning getting ready for our family to come! It was the standard crew -- Brian's mom, sister and her family, my sister and her family and my cousin and his family (my parents are still in Florida). We spent the afternoon eating and catching up. We were even able to have another (indoor) egg hunt. For dinner, we stuck with a traditional spiral ham, and everyone pitched in by bringing a dish. It turned out perfect. I'm still stuffed! My mother-in-law also offered to pick up a Danish layer birthday cake from O & H, complete with the cutest frosting Easter bunny on it. He may be turning 14, but it really made his day. He absolutely loved it and has been talking about how nice it was. So that was it! Another great Easter.

We had such a great Easter! The boys woke us up at 7am, and the hunt was on. In the afternoon, we had everyone over. We even had another Easter egg hunt, which was super fun. Later, we had a turkey dinner and birthday celebrations -- mainly H's (with a red velvet cake that I made), but my sister's is also this week. One of my favorite things about today was my niece cutting H's hair. He's been talking about getting a buzz cut, and she's studying cosmetology so I asked if she wanted to cut his hair. It looks great, and he absolutely loves it. Yay! Spring break is over, and it's back to school for our guys tomorrow. Bummer.

My sister and her family hosted Easter this year, which was so great. My brother-in-law's parents and brother were there too, as were my mom & dad. Yes, they are finally back from Florida and it's so nice to have them home. We all had a blast catching up, playing basketball and having another Easter egg hunt in the backyard woods.

Easter Morning

They waited until 7:00 am to wake us up -- per our request. Once again, C had slept in H's room. Easter is his favorite holiday -- but that bunny sure freaks him out. As soon as they walked down the stairs, the mad dash was on to see who could find the most eggs. I think it's fair to say, these are two happy guys.
