Before dropping the boys off for their weekly overnight with my parents, we went to Old World Wisconsin for the afternoon. H & C have been there with school trips, but I haven't been there for well over 25 years and thought it might be a fun place to go to show M some Wisconsin history. H & C absolutely loved it and had such a blast. I think M enjoyed it too -- except the humid heat we had today nearly made him crazy. Those Northern Germans are just not used to it! Really, the museum is very interesting. Original buildings have been relocated there to show villages as well as historic farmsteads, while people talk about what it was like to live during those times. It's very hands on. The kids got to make a shingle for a house, get some eggs from the hen house and clean some rugs. We saw 5-week old pigs and a calf that was born just this morning. We didn't even get to stop by all the areas, but it really was fun, and honestly, I'm excited to go back again some day.
