Moments 10 22 :: Week 04

The entire last week, Hudson and the Flying Billikens (the SLU Flight Team) spent the week in Salina, KS for the Regional Competition. Doesn't sound like they made it to Nationals, but Hudson did come in 5th for Power Off Landings.

The tree right outside our house makes it look like the sun is shining all the time. 

The colors have been amazing this year. I love it when Mother Nature puts on a good show. 

Leaves that look like rose petals. 

That tree again. It's amazing. And almost bare now.

On Wednesday, Cole and I visited Loyola University. It was a beautiful day, and a great visit. 

Hudson's first flight in the new airplane, since passing his instrument rating. 

Moments 10 22 :: Week 03

Starting lineup for Cole's soccer game last weekend. He's been stuck playing Center Defense instead of his normal Center Midfield position due to other player's injuries. Kind of a bummer, but he's doing good. 

Nicolet homecoming. Unfortunately, kids from other schools cannot attend their homecoming, so the friends they normally go to dances with couldn't join them. But they ended up going with a large group, and had a great time.

Same guys. Just not the girls. Fun story. When the group went to pay for their dinner, the wait staff told them it was taken care of. Turns out, George Hill from the Milwaukee Bucks was there (they didn't see him) and covered their tab. So cool. Something they never will forget. 

It was my friend Carol's birthday this week. Here we are with a bunch of our gym friends. Carol's birthday is always the best, and usually ends with a glass of wine at noon. Can't beat that. 

Moments 10 22 :: Week 02

Last weekend Cole's soccer team had a game in Holland, Michigan. Usually just one of us travels with , but figured that would a fun little trip for all of us. Holland was a cute town, and it happened to be the Fall Fest. Some really amazing pumpkins lined the streets. 

The game was played on Hope College's fields, which were really nice. Cole normally plays center midfield, but due to injuries, has been stuck in defense. He played well. 

On the way back, we stopped by South Haven. The lakefront was so pretty. 

It's homecoming week! On Thursday it was Salad Dress Day, and the seniors were Caesar, of course. 

Moments 10 22 :: Week 01

Last weekend Van and I had some free time so decided to talk a walk at Lion's Den Gorge. 

It was a perfect fall day. The lake was a spectacular blue, and the fall foliage was stunning. 

Spots and rocks. He's still not sure about water though.

While we were home, Brian and Cole were in Indiana for his MLS Next game. 

On Monday, Brian and I went to the Father John Misty concert. While we were there, I started feeling yucky, and ended up getting super sick. I didn't even make it to one his songs before I had to leave. What a bummer. Brian stayed and it was a great show I guess -- but I was a mess. Was still sick the next day. The only good thing is that I got to read a lot and finished this book, which was great by the way.

Cole was off of school on Wednesday so we went to UW Whitewater to tour. While we were walking through the recreation center, Cole found Nina's plaque on the Athletic Hall of Fame. Pretty cool. On all levels. 

Moments 09 22 :: Week 05

This is from a couple weeks ago, but too good not to include. Hudson & his friends went to Forest Park for a hot air balloon festival.

Last weekend was Homecoming and family weekend at SLU. We brought Grandma along for her first visit ever to St. Louis. 

Cole had to stay behind. His soccer team played Minnesota FC. Would have been great to have him there. We had so much fun!

We fit in quite a bit of site seeing on Saturday. Including Hudson's favorite area, Soulard. 

Stopped for some BBQ of course. Hudson works at Salt + Smoke and loves it, but we had to try something on his day off so went to Bogarts across from the Soulard Market. 

That night was the SLU soccer game. 

They aren't having the season they had last year, but it's always a blast watching this team play. 

Halftime fireworks. Impressive.

In other news this week, Hudson passed his Instrument Rating Certification. It's a huge deal and super exciting. Yay!
