Fourth of July

We had an absolutely wonderful Fourth of July -- I hope everyone else did too! We started the festivities by hopping on our bikes and going to the Fourth of July parade. C got a ride in Brian's front basket -- he can ride a two-wheeler, but is not very comfortable going far.

The boy's favorite part, of course, is all the candy. Our parade is pretty interesting. It's not very long. There were no marching bands. And you get a heap load of literature. It's nothing like the one we were at last year in Minocqua. But we still have a good time going. H & C's Montessori school was in it. We've marched with them before, but had to get home to go to a party this year. It was fun seeing some of their friends.

And the roller derby girls were in the parade. My friend Lynn skated by and gave me a disco ball key chain.

The afternoon was spent with The Frigs and some of their relatives, who were very nice to hang out with. The hot sun beamed down on us while we drank sangria and Pimm's Cups and enjoyed a great meal of pulled pork, grilled shrimp, pickled onions, mango salsa, watermelon salad, blueberry pie and strawberries and cream pie. It was delicious. The kids cooled off a different way, when the neighbors pulled out their water slide.

As a finale to our day, we went over to the high school to watch the fireworks. Then we came home and all crashed. Proof that it was a great day.
