Friday night, the four of us went to see Alt-J play. Live music! They were supposed to play on Brian's birthday with a couple other acts, but cancelled last minute. We were so bummed. Then we found out they were going to play a smaller venue, just them. It was perfect.
Chocolates too pretty not to photograph.
Hudson left on Sunday to go back to college, and on Monday, we left for a whirlwind college visit tour. We only had a couple days - Brian had to go to on a work trip later in the week. First stop was a walk around University of Northwestern - St. Paul. I'm not sure how this one got on Cole's radar and don't believe it's making the cut (super religious), but it was fun to walk around.
We stayed Celeste of St. Paul, a funky boutique hotel in a former convent.
Brian and I totally dug it. Cole wasn't sure. Especially of the crazy photographs laying around. He ended up closing this one during our stay.
The next morning, we visited University of St. Thomas. Despite the rain, we are all big fans of this one. Speaking of rain, it seriously has rained all week. What a bummer.
That afternoon we drove to Eau Claire, WI. It's only about 1.5 hours away, and a cool little town. We stayed at The Oxbow, a really fun place with a great bar and restaurant in it.
We were all so stuffed from dinner that we decided to walk around a little.
The next day we walked around UW Eau Claire. Unfortunately, it's Spring Break at half the schools we stopped at, but we still got a pretty good lay of the land. It's a nice campus, beautiful part of Wisconsin, lots of outdoor activities. It was cool. We also stopped at Edgewood College in Madison. I forgot to take a picture there, but don't think it makes the cut anyhow. Still glad we went.
Brian left for his business trip (Mammoth), and Cole and visited another college on Friday - Carthage College. Talk about a view! Seriously, the entire campus overlooked Lake Michigan. It was really gorgeous.
