Moments 08 18 :: Week 04
Saturday was a perfect day for some soccer. One of the leagues he plays on for fun played in the Fiesta Mexicana tournament. Unfortunately, they lost but C scored the first goal of the game, and the only one for his team which was exciting.
We decided to visit El Rey. Do you even know how hard it is for me to leave without at least ten of these?
You might remember that a few years ago, Brian participated in a bike ride from San Francisco to LA for Pablove, and organization decided to making the lives of children with cancer better and that funds critical pediatric cancer research. It's the 10th anniversary ride this year, and he's doing it again to celebrate. On Saturday, he threw a benefit mini music festival. It would have been nice to have more people in attendance for sure, but he did a great job putting it together. He has a month until his ride. If you are interested in supporting it, please visit bit.ly/ride4pablove.
There even was a photo booth.
Took awhile, but we finally got it.
Had a great showing from the gym. So appreciated.
On Wednesday, we got to celebrate one of my favorite people's birthday. C turned 14. Ridiculous.
Food + fire + friends makes for a perfect celebratory lunch. For dinner, we went to St. Paul Fish Market for lobster. It seems to be a tradition of his. It was a great day for sure.

Family Birthday
It's been a busy weekend, and as a grand finale, our families came over to celebrate C's birthday. Yep, this week, he's turning 14. And that is just crazy. It was raining and thunder storming, but that didn't stop us from having a great time. We kept it low key. Ordered a few pizzas, made a couple salads, and had an ice cream cake. Salted caramel & chocolate oreo with white cake. So good. Ice cream cakes from Baskin Robins seem to be his thing now. He's got some pretty great taste, that guy.

Moments 08 18 :: Week 03
These two. We were reminiscing about what trouble makers they both used to be. And then I looked over and find them like this. Yep, they both melt my heart.
Got to visit this guy at work today. Only one more week of pool daze left.
Brian and our friend Bob. Bob crossfits with us, and has done every single major ride with Brian this summer. Trek 100. Ride Across Wisconsin. He's even is a good sport when Brian calls him up the night before asks last minute if he wants to do one. Here they are at the Tour de Fort Metric.
I was supposed to be cleaning.
Super snuggles. That leg!
First JV soccer game of the season for this guy. Glad I remembered a photo at the very last minute. Bummed I wasn't able to make the game. Here’s to a great season. Let’s go!

Moments 08 18 :: Week 02
When shopping at Ikea....
Trying out a cucumber kimchi recipe and crossing my fingers it works.
We finally checked out the NEWaukee Night Market.
It was packed, but fun to see.

Moments 08 18 :: Week 01
The CrossFit Games were in Madison again, and Brian and I got to go! We spent Friday-Saturday there. Always so fun and inspiring.
Samantha Briggs won the Games in 2013 and has finished in the top several times. She had to withdraw from the European Regionals this year due an injury, but still qualified to compete in her Masters age group (35-39). She had elbow surgery only 3 months before this competition and ended up coming in 2nd place. It was so much fun getting to watch her up close and personal at these Masters events, especially because I'm quite certain that next year she'll be back in the Individuals.
As Brian and I were heading out to go to dinner, we ran into Terri & Matty who's room was two doors down from ours! We ended up meeting up with them later in the evening for a really fun (too much fun maybe?) night.
Practice. Look at that determination. He's already a way better golfer than I'll ever be.
We met my mom & dad for lunch and a day at the beach. Too bad the weather that day was in the low 70s and raining. Not ideal, but it didn't bother the boys.
Lamb's Farm
So close to so many animals all in one week! It's too much. I'm in heaven. Today's animal encounter is thanks to Lamb's Farm being a halfway point for us to meet up with Melissa & Finn for lunch before he heads off to college. Yep, another one is off! One of my favorite things has been watching these three grow up together. And while I cannot believe it's been 7.5 years since we moved away from Oak Park, I'm so glad we've been able to make moments like this happen every once in awhile.

Wisconsin State Fair
If you didn't know how much I love the State Fair, you do now, thanks to the photo overload. It threatened to rain the entire day, but fortunately, we had decent weather. This was the only day we could make it, so we were going, rain or shine. The animals are by far my favorite thing. We got to see so many babies! Baby cows. Baby ducks. Baby pigs. Baby clydesdale horses. Baby pheasant. So many babies! I can't get enough. We also tried some Fair food. Didn't go too crazy, but you've got to do it. The best surprise was running into my sister-in-law and her family! Especially since it was their anniversary. I love the fair.
